     Good one.  There was video of a gun club, that had remote control armored planes, with exploding targets on them, and when hit, they would explode.  The shooters, would get in the box like for skeet, and the plane would fly by at a pretty good speed, and they would shoot at it.  Looked like a lot of fun!

Lol. One of the guys down at hunting camp had a remote
control model plane.
Another one had a small camera tied into his laptop.
All it took was a a hunk of duct tape.
Wala-- Instant deer spotting drone.

In the 60's there was a large herd of elk on the north Island. There was a helicopter base there and they would track the herd and when they were getting close to a logging road they would tell everyone and everyone would be there. They just about wiped out the herd in a couple of years. Fortunately 50 years later the herd is recovering.

Was it a military base or an island hop outfit?

Just a base for servicing logging camps mostly. Not military.
