mold and mildew?

After a very humid summer some of my elm staves got a little bit of black spots.the bark was peeled and I keep them in a shed.are they toast?thoughts?thx's
Some like motorboats,I like kayaks,some like guns,I like bows,but not the wheelie type.

you must have stored them in a damp area.  but most likely, the mildew isn't deep.. you could probably rasp it away. Mildew will mostly stay on the outer areas.  has to have sun, and moisture.  so it's prob still good.
Slowly, i stalked her. Watching her every move. Silently moving in for the kill, only to find she was so perfectly tuned to nature i couldn't take the shot. My stomach was growling, yet i couldn't take the shot. My desire to see beauty overpowered my desire to eat.

Wipe them down with a mild Clorox and warm water solution.

I think he's asking if the wood is already damaged. Is the organism called "mildew" actually something that attacks wood cells? After all it grows on paint .
