Elm Warbow 110# @ 32"
« on: September 07, 2015, 07:35:04 am »
This stave has a big nasty knot and a nasty waggle in the upper limb (Full build on my Bowyers Diary blog).
It's got a wide belly trapped back, heat treated...
It took a little set in the early tillering but was straightened a tad during heat treating and is now back to where it started (according to the chalk line traced on the garage floor).
After leaving it strung overnight :o (that was deliberate, to help work it in... honest ::)) it had 1 3/4" between belly and the floor when placed belly down. After about 4 hours this was down to 1 1/4" and the next morning it was 3/4"  :)
I got my mate JT to be the test pilot for the first shot... brave man, no hard hat or goggles :o
Video here on Youtube:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz7mhRGg56g
He shot a flight arrow 299yards... for pities sake, he needs to man up and get that last yard ::)  ;)
I can't give any more figures as he's hung onto the bow  but it's about 78" long.

An absolutely beautiful bow, and looks like it can sling an arrow to!
Whatever you are, be a good one.

Starting to believe you have an affinity to building these things.

Another nice build, sir, very nice!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

How wide is the widest point Del? Great looking bow my friend.

I think its about 40mm (1.57") I can't go and measure it, as I don't have it any more.
Cheers,
Del
