Cool video. I noticed that he used the inside of the boo as the back. The next video with the homemade shotgun is also cool.

I think I read somewhere that by using the inside of the bamboo as the back you could reduce set because the outer wood fibers were stronger and the inner ones weaker, so by using the outside as the belly you would balance the forces, thereby reducing strain on the belly.

Great knife skills, great knife (I'd probably have lost a foot before finishing the bow ::))... well great skills all round.
Love the way the guy looks at the bow, peers along it, flexes it... all so familiar :)

Excellent craftsmanship skills.
I liked the arrow he built, I would not have thought of that, and yes, that is a great knife and he is an expert with it.

The talk in the background is a dialect that sounds SO VERY MUCH like the Ilongo I learned as a kid.  The Batak people are from Northern Palawan which is just across a narrow sea channel from where I lived.  I actually understand just enough of what the chatter is in the background to be able to translate most of it.  That was LOT'S of Fun to listen to.  Thanx for posting it...
