Recurve question

I'm working on a recurve and I've left the tips wide to allow for last minute adjustments. When is the "last minute"? I've got it braced at 6" and I'm pulling it to 16", going for 27.5".

As soon as you are happy with the string and tip alignment you are good to go.

Once you reach first low brace you should be able to tell how it all lines up.

I thought I might have to wait until the whole string lifted off so I could tell where it wanted to lay down.

If your at full brace you can start narrowing your tips. its when i usually do it, but not all at once.

At first low brace the limbs should be under tension and that will tell you how things line up.
