Easton vs AMO
« on: May 19, 2015, 01:38:21 pm »
For some reason I thought Easton was the standard, but now I see that AMO is used for wood and Easton for aluminum and carbon.  I'm just about done building my spine tester and I built it based on Easton.  What I'm wondering is if it matters?  Will it give the same results?

If you want to compare your results with anyone, then it matters. If you're just doing it for you own info you can measure it any way you want, just be consistent.

In the link I posted there is a chart comparing both AMO and Easton, but I know Easton is used a lot for aluminum and carbon fiber which behaves differently so I wasn't sure.  As far as I can tell they work the same just different charts, but I'm not an expert by any means

The uprights on an AMO spine tester are set at 26" and for Aluminum or carbon shafts the uprights are set at 28". I don't know why. I'll stick with the AMO foe consistency.

Well it reads 50# on an arrow I bought as 50-55 so I think its good :) I'll have to test the other 11 to see if my tester puts them in that range.
