Howard's hackberry bow

Here's another bow I made last month for my other TN. Classic camp neighbor and good friend Howard,
(H. Rhodes) from Alabama. Howard's a big guy and may have to shorten his draw a bit to shoot this one. :)
Around 57" ntn and mid 40's # or so at 26" draw. Satin spar varnish finish with acrylic paint and earth pigment accents, deer skin grip with cork padding underneath. The paint pattern at the tips is copied from a bow shown in the archives of the Musee McCord museum that Half Eye posted a link to a couple months ago. Here's the pics. and thanks for looking.

Your bows just have a "look" to 'em.. I feel like I could pick one you made out of a pile. Another great looking bow!

LOVE the green tips!  Howard is gonna LOVE that bow!  Is this hackberry the same as hackberry that grows in the south?  Howard tells me that some wood is different from other regions.  Ash from south is not ash from north and so on.  He has become bow rich in the past couple of months.  He's definitely moving up the skills ladder!  Great looking bow!

I was planing to camp neer you folks this year but glad we didn't  as one walk up that hill was all my heart could stand

Yep......Howard and I will have to fight for our spots next year.   

I think I almost saw a tear in big old Howards eye when Greg gave it to him,  only time I ever seen Howard at a loss for words. ;D

And, yes Greg Sharon and Smoky are fine folks to be around.

That's a great looking hackberry bow.  Nice job Greg.  Maybe Howard will get a shot at another stag with that bow.

Thanks for the comments guys. I didn't want to post this when I made it because I wanted it to be a surprise to Howard when we got to the classic.
Robbie, I'm not familiar with the southern variety of hackberry but seems that I've heard it is different from what we have up here in yankee land.

  That came out nice, I always look forward to working hackberry. It reminds me of a lightweight version of elm.
