BOOM!!
« on: April 26, 2015, 01:13:21 pm »
would have been cool if I had gotten a picture of it exploding, but the fact that it exploded is NOT cool.
Cascara recurve, 68", it was looking real nice until with absolutely no warning it just blew up at 16-17" on the tiller. It also blew up in both limbs, which i've never seen before. Im not quite sure what caused the break, especially since it happened in both limbs. I would have thought if it did break, it would be at the knot.
oh well

There is that old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times!"

I bet things were mighty interesting there for a second ot two!  Sorry brother, have felt your pain enough times that I stopped counting. Better luck on the next one!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

OH bummer.  That is interesting that bow limbs blew at the same time.  Would be really good to know what caused that.

Why spaghetti (and some bows) snap in three pieces?

At least 60% of my cascade bows have exploded before they were complete and maybe 90% exploded within the first 100 shots. I don't totaly blame the wood as I tend to crowd my bending limb area but cascade does not agree with me.

Question, does your cascade of a citrus smell to the fresh break or fresh cut wood? I have a chunk of wood at home I can't identify and I think it is cascade, has a citrusy smell.
