Wood string nocks over bamboo?

I was wanting to do a bamboo backed maple board bow - with "decorative" wood string nock overlays.

1. Can the wood overlays be glued directly onto the bamboo?
2. Should the overlays be "shaped" before gluing so as not to "sand through" the bamboo fibers?

I have not worked with bamboo yet.  Just a few board bows with paper, drywall tape, etc. backings.  Any help (and things I haven't thought of) would be appreciated.

Yeah, just sand a flat spot on the back to glue down the tip overlays. I wouldn't preshape the overlays but other people do, I don't see how you can do much damage to the back unless you're sloppy with it.

For the best looking nock and to prevent having a huge bump of an over lay on the back of your bow, you need to cut through the bamboo and angle into you core wood toward the belly of your bow.

Eric, I was kinda leaning that way - to make sure I had two good flat surfaces to glue up.  I was just hoping someone would confirm that method worked well.
