I heard a Guide say he carried a .22 when guiding for grizzly hunters. If the bear attacked he shot the hunter in the foot and ran.

If you have a prospectors licence you can carry a handgun. Friends of mine working on the coast carry .44 magnums for the grizzly bears.

  I always carry bear spray and bear bangers at work. (And a axe and a few knives).

I feel safer with my 45. In Oklahoma we have bigger cats, coyotes, and snakes, oh, and wild boar. 45 should help those problems. Even in archery season you can carry here. Lawmakers couldnt see a reason to deny second amendment just cause were hunting with a bow.

Had a two legged animal once point a loaded crossbow at me and look through the scope. 40 yards away. I was wearing hunter orange. Then before I could say the appropriate adjectives he turne! And walked away like no big deal.To this day id like to cripple that guy.

I'm in Michigan, have a CPL - I carry 'cause of 2 legged critters. A side note - Years ago (I was still married), My Spouse and I were coming in (Walking together) after a Morning Bow Hunting and met up with a pack of wild/feral dogs that got REAL aggressive. We ended up walking back-to-back and yelling at them as they followed Us for about a 1/4mile, finally backing off. Not one of them had a collar and were very scruffy looking. Never saw them again, but heard stories about them in the area. Bob

I would have arrowed some of those dogs

Same here. I had the feral dog problem once also during muzzle loading season. I did drop one.

Where I live I carry bear spray, a Pistol that shoots both solids and #3 buckshot, and a big bore rifle.  There have been four people in the last couple of years killed and eaten by grizzlies.  When I hunted in Alaska and the Yukon I had my bow slung over my shoulder and my 375 carried in my hands.  If you have to use bear spray you need to have ideal wind conditions as you will usually get a fair dose of it yourself and that's not a pleasant experience!  We can carry a weapon during bow season.  Joe
