First Bendy Handle Dimensions?
«

I have a real clean hickory stave that is a little too thin to make stiff handled and I would like to try a bend in the handle for the first time. It is 68" ttt. My question is what dimensions should I do?

i dont know how much this will help but the finished dimensions my bendy handle maple bow at the handle are 1 1/2in wide and 3/4in thick if that helps.
personally i would start out a bit thicker in the handle like say a one inch and work it down from there

What's your desired draw weight and draw length?

If you have a good 68" to work with, another option might be to trim off a couple inches without changing the thickness or width in the handle area. This might stiffen up the handle some...if that's what you're wanting.

I'm going for 26 at around 45lbs. Should I cut it shorter? And how wide is too wide at the handle?

With your stats you have a lot of room to work with. I just finished a bow that was 58" ntn and 45#@27" that was 1.25" at the handle and 1.5" wide at the fades. If you're just looking for some dimensions I think 64" ntn and 1.25" wide for the middle 1/3 of the bow would be a good start.

Thanks Ryoon. I think I'll cut it out to those dimensions this weekend.
