Thanks bob, started with way too much wood but it's coming along. Made it a bit longer for what I usually make my bows, ipe and I have not saw eye to eye yet. Limb to mouth but not eye. Just going reallllllly slow.

Sleek not to full brace yet. The last 2 evenings I have been helping a buddy pack. So no scrapping going on for me.

Got it bending how I want it and got rid of a little thump. It didn't turn out as under weight as I initially expected, it's shy of my goal weight by about 3 pounds. I have all the doodling marked out in pencil so tonight I'm going to ink over it. There is finish on all but the belly so just gotta get a few coats on the belly and one or two over the whole thing to clean it up. I'm not happy with the color of the leather and the fit, so I'm going to pull it off and smoke it more to see if I can darken it up some. The. Te stitch it on a little tighter. I'm happy with how the beaver tail arrow pass turned out though. I should be shipping in a week once all the finish is done drying.

Some beautiful projects on here! E.Jensen, don't second-guess good shooting. If it shoots well and doesn't break, then the wood is willing. I only fix gross alignment problems, or if the string hangs off the wrong side of the bow. My current shooter yew bow has a touch of propeller on the top limb, but the moose I killed with it never complained about that.

Thanks Chadwick.  I might switch it to the other side, that way I only lose 1/4" length.  I also think I'm going to build a new string without the double served loops so it'll fit on the nocks better.  Currently they look precarious.

I am getting frustrated.  this was about plan c or d. There were no apparent flaws in the wood at this point.  The crack happened while trying to get it to low brace @ less than 40lbs.  If I need to post in a separate topic, let me know.

As per my twisted tip, it does not seem to be twisting any more when drawn, so I might leave it as is, as long as my recipient is not appalled!  Now the question is, how to make it pretty?  A plain white bow is boring, too reflective for hunting, and will look dirty.

Plain white is boring. Unless you can show cool grain swirls or something. At the same time, don't worry about darkening it for hunting. My opinion, but I've hunted a lot with a shiny red white and blue bow, and I can absolutely tell you that the bow never spooked an animal, it was always me. If you want it pretty, remove all tool marks and put on a finish to make it pop.

Do we have a list of who's received their bows?
