Reddit tried to make him popular a couple years ago but the video he had up was pretty low quality and the narrator was Simon Says...made it hard to watch lol

OK, I do live a pretty sheltered life, :-[  guess that is why I haven't heard of him. :)about the only u tube I watch is posted on here. ;) ;D ;D ;D

It is amazing how many people have sent me messages about this video in the last 3 days.  Behold the power of something "going viral".

I'm interested in the comment of Saracen archers having to shoot 3 arrows in less than 1.5 seconds.  With what # bow?
I've been studying the Karpowicz book for awhile now and the idea is war bows drew 130#, or so.

Anybody want to speculate on the ability to pull of this kind of shooting with that weight?

The narrator does go over this in the video. Most archers now draw with only their right arm. Watching how this guy draws, he uses both arms, pushing with the left and pulling with the right. I have read a few places that drawing a high draw weight is more about form and not so much about strength.

Keep in mind that those heavy draw weights were based on shooting like we know it today...and also that piercing armor and killing a person in combat is more about how strong and fast the arrow is.  A heavy draw weight can get the speed needed, but it's not the only way.  I think what he's really breaking out is that there's a lot more ways to shoot a bow effectively than we know now.  We've probably lost more "technology" when it comes to bending sticks than we can currently conceive.

I'm watching this again and I just noticed the best part... at about 2:11 in the video when he throws the ball. :o ;D

The ball is simply a distraction.  While we all sit around and ponder what kind of girly man throws a ball like that he shoots us all three times.

Eh, he's fast...  The narration and "historical facts" strike me as pretentious and sometimes hyperbolic, sometimes downright wrong.
his "back quiver" gestures are over-exaggerated and clownish.

Especially aggravating is all of the cow spit about all of this being "lost" to time.

This video points out a lot of the issues I have with Lars' narrative. He's a good shot- he's put a lot of practice into what he does, but he isn't rediscovering anything, and he isn't revolutionizing archery.

Something that video doesn't take into consideration is that it's narrated by someone in English.  Lars is Danish and doesn't speak English (at least I can't find an interview or anything that indicates that he speaks English).  I imagine there was quite a bit lost in translation.  Context and implications do not always translate well.

Personally I only saw the video as examples of how his techniques are feasible as having real-world implementation and not a "this is hard fact reality" as the response video makes it out to have been an attempt at.
