This morning started out bad.  I was running late and still half asleep.  I got all dressed and ready to hit the woods when I realized I had forgot to get my bow out of the house.  I don't wear my hunting clothes inside so I had to get undressed and run inside to grab my osage bow.  Since I was so late I went to the stand in front of the house instead of the one I had planned on hunting from.  I was only in the stand for a short while when I got a shot at this one.  I haven't been seeing much at all in the woods.  I wasn't crazy about shooting a small one but I have been out of meat for months.  It stood there quartering away giving me a clear shot at 7-10 yards.  I just couldn't resist.  When the arrow hit it I saw red when it took off.  It ran up the hill behind me and then took off running down the road.  I got down and followed an easy blood trail up the hill.  When I got to the road I looked and saw it piled up right next to my sisters goat pen.  I had to laugh when I saw it laying there in the road.  The shot took out the liver and one lung.  I was worried I had hit guts but they were untouched.  It ran about 50 yards before dying.  I used my osage hunting bow that I built last year and a hill cane arrow with a band saw blade trade point.  This is my second primitive kill.  It should be some good eating.

And the hide will only have one hole! Be a nice light hide for or rawhide for backing a bow.

Outstanding Clint.  Congratulations.  I don't blame you one bit for collecting that little one. The quick drag deer are always better in the cook pot anyway.    My freezer is out of venison too and the season doesn't open here till the 15th.

It does except for that arrow sticking out of it.  I've had deer drop near a road and on our tractor trails in the woods but I've never had one drop in the road.  We had to hurry and get it loaded in the truck before the mail girl drove by.  I don't think it would have bothered her to much.  She stops and talks hunting with me sometimes.

Way to go Clint! You gotta be happy with the results of that good shooting, nothing better than a recovery
under 50 yards from impact.
Probably not the last kill pic. we'll see this season from the Outlaw Man, this is what he was born to do and he's figured out how to do it well. :)
