Not to discount anything said. But in my opinion, there is no need to temper it and I see no hinge. Leave the first 10-12" alone right off the handle on each limb, scrape from there clear to the tips 12-15 times on each limb.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

I see. I will give that a shot. I would actually like to reduce the draw weight to about 45#, so that might be the ticket.

Will do. It draws 48# @ 27" (my target weight was 45# @ 27" but no worries), brace height is 6", and the length is 62" tip-to-tip. Thanks, again, guys.
