Thought I would post details of a competition you may be interested in attending.
Jerome H Vaughan, ancestor of one of the few English knights that perished at Agincourt and owner of the Courtfield estate (childhood home of Henry V) is inviting archers to attend an archery competition to test accuracy and instinctive shooting. The details are as follows:

Registration: 11.00 – 12.00. 1st Arrows at 12.30
Shooting fee: £5.00
The format
A sheaf or arrows (8 ends of 3 arrows) will be shoot at a butt approximately 60 yards. After this only the top scoring half or the archers will shoot a further 12 arrows (4 ends of 3 arrows) with the scores starting from afresh.
N.B If any archers are still level at any exit point, an eliminator will take place with the rules as follows. The tied archers will shoot a round of 3 arrows which the archers whose best arrow lies furthest from the prick will be removed from the competition.
This will continue until a qualifier or winner is found.
Ladies, juniors and gentlemen shall compete together. The top 3 from the previous round then compete in the final (3 ends of 3 arrows each). In the event of a tie, the 3 finalists will shoot a further round of 3 arrows the archer whose best arrow lies furthest from the prick will be removed from the competition. If a 3 way tie occurs the best-arrow end will recommence.
The scoring
The butt shall have 2 approximately equidistant concentric garlands on its face and a hazel prick at the centre. An arrow striking the face of the butt in the area outside of the outer garland shall score 10. An arrow striking the face of the butt in the area in between the garlands shall score 25. An arrow striking the face of the butt in the area of the inner garlands shall score 50. An arrow that splits the prick shall score 100. Any arrow that touches or splits the garland shall score to the value of the inner areas. All arrows must stay embedded in the butt to score.
Equipment
The competition must be shot with wooden longbows (bamboo is acceptable) and wooden arrows fletched with feathers (plastic nocks are acceptable). Any non-barbed arrow head is acceptable. Any draw weight of bow is acceptable. The event is for instinctive shooting and no bands are to be used. The dimensions of the butt and distance from the shooting line will not be disclosed to further promote instinctive shooting.
Prizes will be as follows:-
1st Place £300
2nd Place £150
3rd Place £50
The Captain of the Marks decision will be final and abiding.
