My Marshall, MI bow (my first bow!)
« on: August 21, 2014, 05:37:32 pm »
Well, it is finally... officially... DONE!!! Yay!!!
I started making this bow towards the end of March so I could go to the Marshall Primitive Archery Shoot in Michigan. Mr. Blackhawk said I had to get it shooting before Marshall and I finally finished it up while at the shoot.

It was a long process as I did everything the old fashioned way using no power tools and the fact that it is super tough because it's Osage.
I love the colors I got in the profile because I left some of the sapwood on after chasing a few rings, and the contrast to the more traditional gold of the heartwood.

It was great making this with hubby to coach me through, and thank you to everyone that followed the building of this bow in our other thread "the family that makes bows together stays together."

The end result is 62.5 inches nock to nock, and about 33 pounds at 24 inches. It has a leather wrap (that I did myself) and Padauk tip overlays (that Blackhawk put on for me).

Thanks for looking  :)

Very nice bow, I like how the fades turned out from the handle, natural looking.

That turned out great.  Nice job!  I like the looks of the thin sapwood layer.  It was fun to watching you two work on it at Marshall.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I saw you working diligently on that bow at Marshall and I'm impressed with the results of all that hard work. Great looking bow you made Hailey, congrats. :)

Thanks everyone! It shoots fast, faster than any other bow I've shot with such a low draw length and weight (but that's what I get for being short, lol)   ;D
