~35#@26" short mollegabet (pic heavy)
« on: May 19, 2014, 04:46:54 pm »
This one is special, for a special friend I unknowingly over-bowed when I first started bowyery.  I found out she actually kept using a ~45# flatbow I gave her for her first bow :o She'd been under the guidance of her father and grandfather, who have kept her out of the worst habits, but she only means to shoot targets and doesn't need all that weight.

Just a couple touches of character, really pretty simple and quick. Shoots fast for the weight and smooth as butter. Some mild heat treatment in the outer limb where it gets thin. Tillered mostly from the sides, which is why you'll see one growth ring along most of the belly. Took about a half inch of set for a half inch of just-unstrung reflex.

13/4" widest point
6" levers plus 1" fades
4"handle plus 13/4" fades
5/16" black walnut overlays
Mink silencers and arrow pass
Three strand braided artificial sinew lacing with gold/blue macaw feathers

Black locust. Black locust everywhere.
Mollegabets all day long.
Might as well make them short, save some wood to keep warm.

Hard to see your tiller on such an angle Marc, but the rest looks great from my seat. Good job man!

Good job. I like the contrast between the BL and BW. I may use that sometime.

Sweet looking locust bow Huisme. Very nice and I bet it does shoot quick for the draw weight, as you know if you get everything right on a locust bow it will have good cast.
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Beautiful job on that one. That bow would do very well in the 35# flight classes I would bet.

Nice work Marc.  I love the look of locust.  You sure know how to get a bend out of it that's for sure.  :)

Sorry it's taking so long to show the tiller better, my photographer is nowhere to be found.

Here's a more straight-on braced pic.

As you can see it's got a positive tiller and the limbs are of unequal length, which probably contributed to the funk. I don't plan on messing with it as she shoots like a dream ;) >:D
