I have a stave that bends to the Sid slightly. What is the easiest way to straighten it?

If it is dry then dry-heat will work.  Just rough the bow out first

Dry heat;
Rub some oil on the spot you want to bend and use a heat gun.
Put in some stress the way you want to bend it. Bend it a little more than you want the final bend to be.

Steam:
Just put a pot on the stove with some water. Let it boil. Then put the spot you want to bend over the pot and cover it with some aluminium foil. After 5 min you can take it off and bend putting stress on that spot. Again bend it more than you want the final bend to be.

I have both used dry heat and steam on yew and both worked fine.
Just rough out the bow before begin bending.

Hope this helps.

Excuse me for my vocabulary, it is pretty limited due to english not being my native language.

steam then dry heat it a little once it's on a form and bent just past straight. 50 % of the original sideways bend past straight should be enough.
Water, tin foil , a pan and a heat source is all you need to steam bend.
