Yew is amazing, isn't it? What other wood, besides maybe osage, would yield a viable bow out of a stick like that.  :o

I'm amazed how well yew deals with rotten patches, even when they're on the back it doesn't seem to affect the bow much  :o

Yeah I'm really surprised with how this bow turned out. I got the stave off of ebay for $15! Figured there wasn't much to lose, working on what the seller had labeled as a "Practice Stave". ;D

Email him pictures and he will promptly start charging $200 for waste scraps in his rubbish bin!  Tell him it chrysalled and broke as you unwrapped it after it arrived!  LOL.

Hey LFTO, you getting the feeling people approve of what you did with that practice stave?
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Nice job! It just goes to show you that a gnarly piece of yew will make a great bow! It's hard to beat  yew! Good job!                   Dale

Thanks, Cipriano. It's pacific yew. Balsa is a real light wood that's usually used for arts, crafts and models and the like. it's also frustratingly soft and annoyingly weak. wouldn't be able to get a bow out of that stuff for my life  ;D

Great work, especially considering the evil bits of wood that stave has.
