Yew does heat bend with a heat gun, most of the time.  In this case the recurves were steam bent and then the Bamboo backing glued on.  The deflex is glued in

I didn't cut the Bamboo I used as I'm too far North for Bamboo to grow here.  I got it from James Parker but it looks like it came from at least 3"poles

   ...I need to make me another backed lam yew bow....they make a wicked combo,n dare I say I like em better than an unbacked yew self bow  ,whether it be boo,hickory,maple,sinew etc...
