Went Osage Hunting today and found a limb that was dead straight......was a challenge to get to it. But you gotta do what you gotta do to get that osage.

That's probably the safest spot to cut that limb from.  Lets see some pictures of your haul.

i'll post some pics tomorrow when it gets light again, hate winter time. wasn't a huge haul, bought 8 or 9 logs. unfortunately a lot of them have small rings on the outer 1" of the log. Gonna be a lot of wood removal to get to the good rings.oh well that'll be another 2 years away anyways. I'll worry about it then. Pics in the morning.

nothing wrong with some small rings. Some of my best bows are tight ringed

that looks a little like the tree I want to cut down next.
Except it has a curvy trunk.

Looks like a nice pile of bow wood.  There should be some good staves in there.

Most of it was still alive. A couple of the trees were dead a year or two

Osage like that is pretty brittle but makes a heck of a bow.  If it is real thin rings you might consider rawhide backing.

Nice haul.  The pic reminds me of an incident where I was up to my chest in winter creek water, using a bow saw to cut an Osage limb that was out over the creek.  A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do to get good bow wood!!
