Knew it was coming, but still hard...
« on: January 22, 2014, 12:06:40 pm »
Lost a good friend today. We've been together for almost 14 years. I still remember the day I picked her out of the litter. She walked right over and laid down by my leg, had my heart ever since. Lotsa stories to tell, and memories made. She enjoyed life most when by my side. Man, the hours we've spent together, whether hunting, fishing, hiking, laying by the fire, riding in the truck, swimming, or watching the game. She just wanted to be with me.

We had this game where I'd sneak out the house and try to take off without her. Somehow she was always keenly aware of when I had left. Rarely took her long to track me down and bounce along beside me as though she was laughing, saying "do it again!"

Lately, on the coldest nights we have been letting her sleep inside. Last night was one of those nights. For some reason I awoke at midnight fearing the worst, but as I touched her side she was still breathing. This morning she was gone. It appears she just wanted to be with me one last time.

I will miss my friend.

That tough Scott, sorry man. She looked beautiful!

Sorry to hear. Can tell she was a good one from just looking at the picture and a good dog is something special. Nice that you had those 14 years together though.
