Well been into archery for a long time....never made my own bow.
I'm fascinated by the California/west coast type paddle bows and such so been trying to get a shooter together....using red oak as it's cheap kindling for a beginner

Broke the first one floor tillering
![Embarrassed :-[](http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/Smileys/default/embarrassed.gif)
broke the second one on the tree, bad hinge on one limb let go at full draw

I went loosely from Ishi's measurements for his "short bow"...this one's 46"s nock to nock.
1-5/8 handle width, 2" on the limbs, down to 3/4" at the tips, simple pin style nocks.
Rawhide backed(dogbones & hide glue) deer sinew reinforced nocks. Buckskin handle wrap.
5-3/4" brace, pulls 52 lbs at 22" on the bathroom scale.
Sent about a hundred arrows threw it tonight and it's got about an 1" of set after unstringing..settles to about a 1/2" when rested.
Thanks for ALL your posts and getting me into a new hobby...there'll be more to come !
