A little Paul Semp bow....Holy Crap
« on: December 26, 2013, 03:54:39 pm »
Hey fellas,
Wanted to share this everyone. Did a trade with Mr. Semp here awhile ago and was supposed to get me a couple of short staves from his end. Got 3 staves and what he calls a "rough out" to have some fun with.
It's 51" and well over 60# pounds Osage, got more bumps, dips and knots than the loser at a fist fight, and does this thing flat drive an arrow. All I did was sand a little on belly and changed the string knocks to pin types, bent over my knee and damned if it didn't look pretty good, made her a string, give her a bath in pitch and grease, let it set for a couple days and this is what come out. Thank you Paul.....don't know how many bows you have made but if this is a "rough-out" ya ought to make 'em all this way. When I get my you know whats back down where they belong I'm thinkin about getting it down to old man weight >:D
I still say ya guys on here make some the best bows period, and includes you Mr. Paul so enjoy the pictures.

Very nice! Good bend on a tricky stave.   Looks like you are in a giant fridge that needs defrosting!!

That Paul is a good guy, a talented bow maker and knows his osage as you now know Rich. Between the two of you it looks like a snappy little bow was made. Nice!
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Thanks for the nice comments fellas. Need to get it straight though.....I did not tiller this bow Paul did. All I did was sand out some rough spots and change the knocks took all of 10 minuets.

DB, the bow measures 1-1/4" wide at the arrow pass, and it's not cut out.

Idaho, looks like shootin a flat line at 15 yards.

Glad you finished it up Rich. After receiving some finished arrows from you along blank shafts I did not find it fair to send raw materials only. I have alot of unfinished bows laying around and this one seamed right up your ally. Thanks for posting.  Enjoy!

Darn you guys anyway :D Those short bows are making me change my attitude.
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Thanks for all the positive comments.

Dave, probably not, but maybe a few NA symbols in the black line type, just to break up the outline.....cause it is going to the huntin woods for sure.

Fred. Once you go short there aint no goin back >:D

Paul, ya for sure one-up'd me and yes it's gonna spank some venison.
