Another tri lambda lambda lambda
« on: December 24, 2013, 02:03:18 am »
Made some self bows over the last few years but haven't done a glue up since 2007 I think. Not too bad. Made mostly from scrap pieces I've had lying around for a decade or so. Bamboo back, 1/16 maple mid lam (scrap from making skateboards), pre tapered osage core(because I barely squeaked a core outa the chunk), maple and walnut everything else. Aside from the maple I made all the boards from raw wood I cut myself. Glue lines are kinda crappy, but I'm rusty.

Yeah those are sweet tips! Nice profiles.

Very nice!
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

oooo, I like it! Very cool that you milled the boards yourself. I so want to do that myself.

Pearl Drums: Huh?

Thanks guys. I may post a full draw pic, but those require another person around my house which isn't very often. ha

No but it's cheap! Haha. And my little Delta planer is a beast. I usually just run raw logs and splits through it.

lambda lambda lambda. That's the fraternity name from "Revenge of the Nerds", an 80's movie. Those are character names I mentioned.

Nice!  I have little experience with these lam bows, but I find them very interesting. This one looks top shelf.

I am working on my first laminate bow. It is ghetto as crap but all I have ATM. It will work good and looks fine but definitely not gorgeous. I am thinking about learning how to make legit ones just to say I can make them. Your bow looks very nice. What woods are they?
