Red Oak English Longbow

A New Red Oak Longbow I just made. The belly is lightly rounded and is 1.25" at the handle and remains that way until 12" from the tips where it tapers to 1/2". The bow is nylon backed and pulls 43# @ 28". It has 1 inch of set. The handle was built up with cork and a slim piece of walnut; the handle wrap is a cotton patterned fabric I got at the store. Lots of fun to shoot!

That looks very classy, sir. That brace and full draw are outstanding.

Red Oak English Longbow. You don't see those words together very often, but your bow looks great.

When you say 'nylon' backed, do you mean a light weight parachute type nylon material?

The nylon backing I used is the thicker sport nylon, not the rip-stop parachute nylon. Sport Nylon Isn't even that thick and it makes a great backing and looks professional. The bow is 72" long from tip-to-tip
