"Medium" osage and couple shorties
« on: December 21, 2013, 04:33:51 pm »
Been lots of talk on here lately about short bows and longbows so I thought I would post some pics of the last 3 bows I've finished up. They are 56", 42", 36". They are 50@27", 50@22", and 50@19". The 56" is sinew backed because of the 8" of stiff handle. The 36" bow was a small belly split so it was kinda just for fun and probably wont get used much. Dont get me wrong, I like longbows too but ive just been a shortbow kick lately. Rain all day today and Im bored so lots of pics :) Thanks for lookin

Um, old man like, especially that middle bow. Looks like venison sandwich's to me for sure. Very nice on all of them. I'm curious how come ya got the middle bow braced that high? Anyways those are very nice, sir.

Nice bows Okie, excellent tillers on all of them. You got some good draw length and weight out of them too, thats some fine work.
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Hmm.... Maybe because lots of Indians and tribes around the world would draw short and have high poundage for absolutely unnecessary things like horse back shooting and just over all dense cover shooting or maybe they couldn't get wood that long or....  ::) so why would anyone try to do THAT if it is that pointless? ::) just messing with ya ecatham but you kinda came off ignorant.

Sweet Okie.  All nice but I'm particularly fond of No. 1.  Great shape to it.

Those are some sweet arrow flingers! I really like the photos.  The bows look like they belong together, like siblings in a family photo.
"The bow is the old first lyre,
the mono chord, the initial rune of fine art
The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso
