I came home from work tonight and had a package from Rick Wallace waiting for me on the kitchen island. It was a nice surprise after a busy day at work. I opened it up and found a beautiful cedar box with a native design on it.
Rick made the box from a tree that he cut on his property. I took a look inside the cedar box and found two Ulu knives. These things are awesome! The larger knife has a wood handle from Texas and the smaller one has an antler handle from a buck that Rick killed last year. Thank you so much Rick. I can't wait to try them out. And thanks to everyone else that was involved.
There is a scene etched into the blade of the larger knife.

Some really thoughtful gifts so far. I never really understood how those ulu knives were used, so I looked up some videos and see that they are quite handy for everything from skinning game, filleting fish, or kitchen business like chopping veggies and mincing herbs. I think I have to have one now

Great looking cedar box! I madr one similar for my wife last year except i had a manatee on the top. Wood came from a cedar i took down behind the house. Milled it on my table saw after using a combination of my chainsaw and hatchet to reduce the logs down to a manageable and safe size.

Well my gift came in the mail on Friday afternoon. And wow what a beautiful gift. Handmade 6" drop point skinner, forged by Connor McCalmont. Along with the side carry sheath. Very sweet, I think this is going to be added to my muzzleloading kit. Thank you very much and Merry Christmas!!
Connor Please send me a PM.
I forgot to add that he also sent me a nice Striker and chunk of flint for a Fire starter kit.

I received my gift today from Turtle. It's an awesome fire starter. I've never messed with primitive means of starting a fire, but always wanted to. Now, you bet that I will be starting fires a lot. Thanks Steve!! I love it.
