Took this button buck yesterday morning with a obsidian point on a bamboo shaft using my black locust double scalloped bow. Had two of them feeding to me and had my eye on the fatter one who stopped 14 yards away and broadside with two saplings blocking the kill zone. While I was waiting for him to present a shot this one came up
in front of me at 9 yards and I decided I better take him before one of 'em winded me. Slight quartering on and the arrow entered shoulder and took out artery above heart. The deer blasted out and I watched him fall within 50 yards, stone dead in under 10 seconds. Arrow undamaged with point detached and I found the point in the body cavity and
was amazed it was completely intact as well.
Not a big deer but I'm pleased. First with stone point , clean kill and taken after gun season which can be tough around here. Also saw a bobcat pass by me this morning and never have seen one in Illinois before, my brother saw one the day before too.
Also want to give credit to Bubby for giving me the nice obsidian points. Thanks Bub, that point did a great job and
I'm thrilled to have gotten a deer with one of your points. With a little luck I hope to make it happen again.
