65# persimmon bow

just finished this 65# persimmon...
65 3/4" tip to tip , 1 3/4" widest, 1" width before the nocks,
back was dry heat reflexed and the tips steam bent reflexed. a certain amount of set 

really enjoy working with persimmon and leaving the sap wood with all its knots and its lighter color. these tips naturally turned black from clamping the ends on the roughed out stave to prevent propellering . didn't weaken the wood in any way, maybe something to do with the sap under the wood clamps?
powerful shooter... i just need to work out with it to build some muscle strength!
harder to do as a 58 year old than you young whipper-snappers.

Sweet bow man! I remember my grandpa pointing out persimmon on his farm when I was a kid. Kinda hope to give it a shot someday.

  Beautiful job on that bow. I just did my first persimmon a couple of months ago, fantastic wood. Hardest wood I ever worked bar none, I had to sharpen my scraper after each set of scrapes.

I love that profile Richard. Nice job! Was wondering if that is the natural color of the wood or if you stained it? Great looking bow.

Nothing wrong with that. Nice looking bow. With that heavy draw that thing is probably an animal.

StickMan47, no staining, i just used True oil... it has almost a natural walnut like color below the sapwood.
maybe just a tad greyer than walnut.

That is a great profile and a beautiful bow! Ive yet to split a persimmon log that didnt have severe twist to it.

That is everything a bow should be. Doesn't look like there is an ounce of fat on it either.
