hopefully these are better pics of the birch bark, I think I could have sanded the bark thinner but it's my first time working with it and I liked the way it looked, the levers were actually much more slender looking befor I added the bark

in order to wrap it like I did I cut some strips of the bark, wrapped it in a wet towel and put it in the microwave for two min., turned it to rubber, then I cut it close to the shape of the levers and glued  and wrapped it with tubes

Very nice Bub!  The tillers sweet and the birch bark is nicely done touch of class!  I'm not usually a conissuer of snake skins, but those coon tails are quite unique.  I've never seen em quite like that before.  Josh

Nice work wrapping that bark around the edges bub, like the color of that birch also. Use of the microwave is a cool trick too, never would have thought of that.

Yeah Greg the microwave  works great for bending whatever you can fit in it, I know someone on here has one with a whole in both ends and puts bows in there and stuffs the holes with rags

o.k. the layout was 2" at the fades, straight taper to 1" 12" from the tips the fades are 2" long then straight taper to 3/8" tips, this gives a 12" lever, and the grip is built up both sides with cork

just an update, gave Ryan the bow today, I love it when you hand them their bow and they are speechless, that may be the best part about giving one away, just got to set up a time to show him how to shoot a wood bow now all he's shot before was a glass bow like most of us had as kids

Sweet tiller, looks perfect for that style bow. Always love seeing birch bark incorporated into bows. Nice work.

That is one of the very best things about building bows!  AWESOME!
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?
