Osage D bow

Little Osage D bow 50# @ 27" 56" NTN 1-5/8" @ fades taper to 1/2" at notch. Built this bow for my son, was going to be a X-Mas present but he is home on leave from Marines now and I couldn't wait. criveraville came through swiftly with skins I got from him on trade and finished it up on Saturday. Finally had to threaten to whoop'im good to get him to stop long enough to get Pics. >:( Skins are diamond back water snake and match the Osage better than anything I've seen. Pics. don't do it justice but here it is. Oh and raps are rit died jute thanks for looking.

Built up brown leather rest and strike plate, true oil finish. Here comes the full draw pics.

Thanks Bowman! on both accounts. He is back from as far as we know his last tour, Pheeeewwww and is eager to be home for good to hunt with his old man. Me I'm ready to have him helping me pack >:D

Nice job on that bow.Pretty good pictures too.I can see the little bit of snake to it puts the string closer to the edge of the arrow pass there.I appreciate your sons' service too.

Very kool little bow! I think yer right about the skins matching osage. the look like the wood grew them as bark! awesome job!

Thanks very much to all of you we appreciate the appreciation. ;)

 Pappy: yes it is a quick shooter I built my first D bow for nephews X-Mas gift last year. This was the first hunting weight bow. I'm surprised how quick it shoots and how you really don't notice the bending handle on release, it really is a smooth shooter.

Beadman: yes the stave had a pretty bad edge bend there after removing wood to floor tiller I steamed it and straightened it in the process I caused about a 10" crack down the belly so that is where I stopped. string runs about 1/3 in the handle instead of middle good for righty not helpful for lefty. super glued and moved on don't think it will ever be a problem crack runs straight up the middle, 1" wide handle.

Gopher: I do not know what the mass weight of it is but it is very light 2" positive tiller so very comfy in hand.
