this weekend's projects
« on: October 28, 2013, 01:42:28 pm »
I get asked pretty regularly how I can stand being away from hearth and home so much.  The answer is simple.  I stay busy!  This weekend I spent in Walcott IA  and got a few things done and made some progress on a few others. At the bottom of the pic is my great nephew's Minnesota Osage (red elm) flatbow complete with a bullhide belt quiver and six arrows. To the left is a half dozen shafts ready for feathers for my cousin's boy.  These are to go with the hickory bow "brainfart" that was originally intended for my great nephew but was way too much bow for him.  To the left is the elkhide quiver for Soy to use at camp Ripley next weekend.  At the top is a piece of buckthorn that I got from Badly Bent at the Classic.  I got it to floor tiller this weekend and will let it set for a few weeks to make sure its dry before tillering.  Thanks Greg!  This stuff is beautiful!  I hope to see you in TN so i can reciprocate the kindness.  A side from laundry and other chores that's how I've spent the weekend.  Thanks for looking!  Josh

Nice work trucker. Be careful with that buckthorn, stuff is ADDICTIVE! Its gorgeous, strong and fast wood. Oh, and don't you sweat it, Greg will be at the next Classic..;)

I got that quiver today in a 15 minute truck driver Jamboree goods trading session ;D ...can't describe how awesome it is or how thankful I am to have it!!! Man drove over 2hrs out of his way to get it to me before my hunt...and all I was gonna get at the deal making was the leather!!!! What a swell guy! Here is a pic of our trucks as we r tradeing in the parking lot
