Arrow kicking high
« on: October 16, 2013, 06:57:00 pm »
My arrow seems to kick a little high in flight. I have tried moving my nock up and down with no success. The arrows are spined for the draw weight. Is there any way to get rid of this?

I believe it means either nocking point is to low or arrow head is way heavy.

does the nock end go high or does the whole arrow go high?
do you cant (tilt) your bow?
how long is the arrow and how heavy is the point?

Your nock point is probably too low. i set mine 1/2" above square for Trad bows, and nock under. Also caused by a crappy release.  :o

It is not a really bad kick but, I do notice it. I think it is either shooting form or an arrow problem. It is not consistent. Sometimes worse than others.

to you cant/ lean your bow when you shoot. sometimes a stiff spine will appear like a nocking point problem if you lean your bow a lot

Try lowering and/or evening the pressure on your grip. Mine will do that when I start using the web of my hand rather than the heel.

Ive found when I know my arrows match my bow and I have shot them good before hand and my arrows fly like crap, that my bow hand or draw arm elbow isn't where it should be. Once I find what's what, the arrow flight straightens right out. Self bows are finicky as hell compared to any other style hand drawn bow out there.

Agreed. Most bad arrow flight is totally my fault and not the bow.

Is this just one arrow or all your arrows.? What type of arrows? Arrow trajectory high or tail of arrow kicking up? Pics of your bow and arrows would help.

Could be any number of things. Gotta eliminate one thing at a time...........Art

Check the tiller on your bow I suspect one limb has become weak and has your limbs out of time. A weak top will pull your arrow down and it will bounce it tail high off the rest. A weak bottom will let the top pull the nock high on release. Just happen to be fooling with the same thing today and retillering my bow.

I suspected the same thing Eric. A picture of his bow would probably confirm that..........Art

I think it was my grip. I tweaked it a little and it doesn't do it now. :D
