just finished putting together my QDU rig. been working on it for about a year, ever since i bought my sharps. put the ammo belt together with woven raw hide and rebecca parker did all the quill work. the knife is of 1095 carbon steel with brass fittings and elk antler for joe york. enjoy!

pat, we had a blast. steve saw five all together and I had three that I let walk. wish you could have made it. hoping to have another hunt on the weekend of 10/25.
country, we don't even have a 1200 yard shot here in s.c. i'm running holy blackpowder through it. trying to keep everything authentic and use the 45/70/405 load the gov. and buffalo hunters used. it likes 68gr. of FFg under a 405gr flatnose bullet. can't pack 70gr in the modern cases. getting 1.5" groups at 100 yards.

Man! That is sweet.
Sight it in at 50 yards and take it pig hunting.

I am VERY jealous. I would LOVE to get a '74 Sharps... or even a Ballard or similar. I would officially hang up my modern deer gun if that were the case!!! I mainly use flintlock and matchlock, but at times the wife tells me to stop messing around and get some meat in the freezer. At times around here, I get shoots from 100-300 yds and the flinter doesn't cut it.
VERY cool rig!!!!!

already taken some pigs with it. i killed a 100# back in dec. he was running way, giving a hard quartering shot. i hit him behind the last rib and it came out the base of his opposite side neck. he did a complete sommersaw at 75 yards. hillbilly killed about a 150# sow with it later on that hunt. this is my consession to centerfire rifle hunting and i'm running blackpowder it in. i also have a 1863 sharps in 54. cal that i've taken several hogs with. hoping to take a deer with both guns this year.
