Echatham, I use a material I have use on custom fishing rods in the past is called FlexCoat, a two part self leveling epoxy, only doing a few inches at a time, once both limbs are dry with the first coat, I apply a finish coat of the same material. The trick is to use a very soft hair brush and do not brush the feather much. If you break the feather brushing it into the finish it will not go back together and the osage will show through.

, but the lever at the fade is 3/4" x 3/4" tapers in width to 5/16 @ the tips and stays pretty much 3/4" in thickness to the tip.
