my equipment list for the elk hunt I just took

This is the list of Items that I took. Please understand that this equipment was packed on a horse. I did not need all of the items on the list. This is set up as a check list. I hope this help anyone getting ready for a trip. If I was packing all of the gear the list woul would be decreased in size.


BASE CAMP BACK PACK CONTENTS:

☐ SPARE BOOTS - LIGHTWEIGHT
☐ THERMA REST SLEEPING PAD
☐ 1 light wt SLEEPING BAG - 2 LINERS - SLEEPING CAP (I only used the one liner)
☐ SOAP
☐ PERSONAL PACK TOWEL
☐ TITANIUM BOWL, PAN, POT & FUEL never use these except fuel ...one can only
☐ SOTO BURNER
☐ WATER PURIFICATION BOTTLE TABLETS (only if filter system stopped working)
☐ DOP KIT
☐ HEAD FLASH LIGHT (Best light ever)
☐ BASE CAMP 1ST AID KIT
☐ BASE CAMP MEDS
☐ BIO WIPES
☐ INSECT REPELLENT
☐ GLASSES
☐ SMALL LIGHTER
☐ 2 SETS WIRES - CELL PHONE CHARGER FROM CAR
☐ COLLAPSIBLE KNIFE
☐ SUPER GLUE - THICK (for cuts and such)
☐ 12 VOLT BATTERY NiMH I did nto take the lipo battery do to safety (this was used with the car charger to charge the cell phones that had google earth on them)
☐ ELK TAGES
☐ 1 PKG 550 CORD
☐ 1 BOX 1 GAL FREEZER ZIPLOCK BAGS (did not need because the outfitter could come and take the game down to meat cutters)

☐ HYDRATION SYSTEM
☐ THIN FLEXIBLE BLADE
☐ ORANGE FLAGGING TAPE

☐ GLASSES (extra old pair incase I broke mine.

UNIVERSAL CAMP GEAR:

☐ BASE CAMP FILTRATION SYSTEM (I had two types of water filtration systems and recomend that you only buy the hiker pro with an extra filter) I use coffee filter on the end of the hiker pro to extend the life of the filter. I spent the extra money and bought the quick release system and that made it very easy to use.
☐ 2 WATER CARRIERS - EXPANDABLE
☐ KITCHEN SINK
☐ 1 BLACK UNIVERSAL CARRYING BAG
☐ BLEACH/EYE DROPPER





























CLOTHING:
   RETURN TRIP HOME: TO BE PACKED WITH HORSE RIDE  CLOTHES (these were left in the van so I could have clean clothes for the ride home)
☐ JEANS
☐ SOCKS
☐ T- SHIRT
☐ UNDERWEAR

HORSE BACK RIDE UP:
☐ HEAVY CAMO PANTS
☐ LONG SLEEVED BLUE SHIRT (sun blocking type)
☐ SOCKS
☐ UNDERWEAR

CLOTHING - OUT THE DOOR (to wear during the trip out):
☐ TENNIS SHOES
☐ SOCKS
☐ UNDERWEAR
☐ SHIRT
☐ LIGHT CIVILIAN JACKET (to wear during the trip out and back)
☐ PILLOW, BLANKET, FOOD (this was nice to have for the trip out in the van)

HUNTING CLOTHES:
☐ HYPER HIDE JACKET
☐ SCREENED HAT (never took it )
☐ INSULATED PANTS (these were water proof and worked great during morning hunts
☐ CAMO PANTS (the cotten type pants bad idea the water on the grass in the moring soaked it right up, however they worked great for afternoon hunts)
☐ 2 PR LONG UNDERWEAR
☐ 2 THERMAL SHIRTS
☐ 1 TAN SWEATSHIRT
☐ 1 CAMO CAP
☐ 1 PR HUNTING GLOVES
☐ 1 NECK WARMER (was not used during the fist week of elk hunting)
☐ 2 T-SHIRTS - 1 CAMO & 1 T-SHIRT
☐ 1 LONG SLEEVED CAMO SHIRT & T-SHIRT
☐ APPROPRIATE # SOCKS & UNDERWEAR
☐ DIRTY LAUNDRY BAG - KELTY
☐ 15 BUFFALO BORE BULLETS
☐ 1 PISTOL WITH BELT & CASE

This does not include food which is too complected to list but make sure you pack your meals with many types of PROTIEN it is key to energy on a mountain at 11-12000 feet. Also make sure you work out and break in your boots before you go. before the trip I walked a good 100 mile to break in my boots! I walked many many miles during the hunt and never had a blister or sore feet other than the issue I have always had with my nerve in my left foot. I just sucked it up and pressed on! Surgery on Thursday will end that issue for the future. They are just going to cut it out!  It will make turkey hunting in the spring more fun!

Believe it or not the three of us only had two pack horses.

My gear wt just at 50# if you subtracted the shared equipment that I brought for the group. That is larger tent arrow case base camp filter system and containers. If I packed it I could be easily reduced to #40-45

Everything was the lightest wt product that I could find.

During a test this summer I took most of this in in a pack (40#) for a 9 mile hike during 90 degree heat this summer then back another 9 miles on the third day.

Agreed never used it. We used horses so I did not put any of it on my shoulders

Lots of stuff,but if you ant packing on your back it's better to have in case you need it. :)  Didn't see any weapons,was you planing on running them down and choking them to death. ;) ;D ;D ;D
