Thickness of backing

What thickness do most of you use for hickory backing?  1/8th, 1/16th?  I can't seem to get that right.  Thanks guys.

I cut hickory backing strips at 3/16" and they end up at 1/8" or slightly less after removing the tool marks.

I glued up a hickroy backed osage yesterday and the hickory was .100" thick. When I glue up bows with wood on the belly that is weaker in compression resistance, I make the backing thinner... about 1/16" give or take.

With my experimention of hickory and ipe i've come to prefer thicker backings. I normally use 6mm hickory backs now.
Bows with thicker backs i've found to hold reflex better than those with 'normal' thickness backs.
