Arrow exchange (small game blunt done)
« on: August 24, 2013, 11:54:35 am »
Here is the first of two done, still have to fletch the companion big game arrow before I ship the two off. This arrow exchange idea was a good one Oldhiippy, glad you got it started up. Often I have a difficult time getting motivated to build arrows but this got back into it and it looks like I may even get a half dozen done for myself also while I'm in the mood.
This arrow is one I've always wanted to build but never did, was fun to make.
Heres some pics, I'll post pics of the companion arrow when done with it, maybe tomorrow. Thanks for lookin'.
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Man that looks great, a squirrel would fall out of the tree in amazement just looking at that thing, you wouldn't even have to shoot it.

Greg,
My first impression of you, was an artistic person.  Mighty nice arrow. Great work!

Have both done now and ready to ship on mon. or tue.
Arrow wood viburnum shoot shafts, wild turkey primary fletched, pitch glued points, self nocks, points and nocks sinew
wrapped, colors natural earth pigments except for the white bands which are acrylic paint. Finished with three coats satin poly and the feathers are glued on with duco, went astray from primitive here. :) Bubby made the sweet obsidian point on the big game arrow and I made the bone blunt on the bunny buster.

weights;  550 grains - big game arrow
692 grains - bunny thumper arrow

just gotta pick up a shipping tube and try to get to the post office this week. Hope my recipient enjoys them as much
as I enjoyed making  em'.

Those are beautiful BB, simply beautiful. How did you trim them, did you use a chopper? They are truly a work of art > Dan
