Preparation for arrow exchange (more pics added)
« on: August 18, 2013, 11:46:04 am »
I'm getting ready for the arrow exchange, just waiting for a name to determine arrow length. Heres some pics of prep work and some items I've gotten from collecting myself, through trades and a gifts from a few of the good folks here at the PA forum. This arrows gonna have some mojo from a few different guys on the forum.
Pics;
1) raw shoots I collected last fall while hunting
2) sinew from last years deer
3) pitch courtesy of Carson
4) turkey feathers courtesy of DVS Hunter
5) knapped points courtesy of; (top two) Twisted Limbs & (bot. four) Bubby
    not sure which point I'll use yet
6) earth pigments (purchased commercially)

Also want to do a fat shoot carved down into a blunt if time allows as a bonus arrow, I call these my BBBB arrows.

Those are going to be some nice arrows. Someone is going to be one lucky recipient.

I'm ready to start and will also post details when I get a name and some specs.
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Gregs arrows are all pieces of art. I had the pleasure of pulling them from some targets. Somebody will be lucky to have one!

Well, I got lucky because my recipient shoots the same spine/length that I use. With vision problems at the moment, I'll be sending one of my personal hunting arrows. Half ashamed to send it out because of my poor writing. Won't hurt it's accuracy though ;D Will be in the mail soon as soon as the varnish dries over the writing..........Art B

Thanks for the comments and interest guys. I've just about got the shafts straight and reduced and ready to assemble and decorate. I'll put up a few pics tonite of some past bunny buster/squirrel thumper arrows I've made. Got my name
from the oldhippy yesterday and am excited to try to make something nice to send. I know from the name I drew that this person is the kind who would appreciate it. I'm every bit as into this as I was to participate in the bow trade. ;D

Heres a few blunts I've done in the past. They all have to be different than the last to keep my interest up so for the arrow trade I want to make one similar to the last pic below from encyclopedia of native american bows, arrows and quivers. I'm no expert arrow crafter by any means but I enjoy making em', especially blunts from shoots.
