Presentation spear and war club
« on: August 06, 2013, 09:44:23 pm »
Just finished these up to go along with the tomahawk, 2 bows arrows and quiver, and knives. The spear is ironwood shaft 46" and the head is a 14" farriers rasp forged and retempered by Wildkatt. It takes and holds a very keen edge. The war club is 23" overall and made from Ironwood shaft and the rear leg knuckle of a buffalo. The leg bone was split down the middle and the shaft carved to fit it and up into it about 1-1/2". Then set with spruce pitch, then wrapped with rawhide. The ornament attachment is carved from part of the original leg bone. My buffalo bones weren't quite ready so this one came as gift also from wildkatt. The 13 arrows are the ones I've recently finished up. This entire package is going to the Little River Band of Odawa, down in Manistee.

Nice job on those, Rich! You really outdid yourself this time!!

Really glad that you like them. I'm trying really hard to make these as authentic as historic information will allow.

Killer work Rich, I like it all. Kinda makes me shutter to think of the damage those weapons could inflict on a person.

Rich,
Great craftsmanship! Truly a trip into history.
Seems like 2/3's of the people here at PA have very special skills, then there is that 1/3 that have no boundaries of what they can create or recreate. You all amaze me, but some inspire...
You Da Man Sir!!
