My Abo Knapping Kit
« on: July 28, 2013, 12:54:58 pm »
There's been a lot of questions about abo knapping kits...  so here's mine (my favorite tools).  I'll be using this kit in upcoming videos.

I've gotten many requests to explain how to make, care for, and use abo tools, so I'll start here.  I encourage you guys to copy and experiment with tools like the antler hammer and the hafted notching tools.  Give me some feedback!

OK, don't give me any feedback.... :o

No worries.  I'm taking a break from videos for about a month so I can concentrate on family stuff and knapping when I can.

It's takes me some time to make the transition to full-time abo knapping.  I'll be focusing on very early styles in both the Americas and Europe.  As time goes on, I will change to later styles until I hit the Bronze Age in Europe and Late Prehistoric in the Americas.

Very nice display Patrick!!!! Love it man can't wait to see the points. You're going to love that edged stone tool. I have it in my hand like half of the time.

Some of them tools are very unique!! How does that antler hammer with wood handle work for u?  Ive thought about making a hammerstone hammer with a wooden handle..

Russ, the hammer work well for thinning the bases on medium sized points.  It's very accurate and easy to hit prepared platforms.
