Brain tanned buffalo side-seam moccasins
« on: July 03, 2013, 04:29:31 pm »
I just finished up this pair of winter moccasins.  The moccasins are brain tanned buffalo with the fur in, side-seam and completely hand sewn using artificial sinew.  I had intended them for myself but forgot to take into consideration the thickness of the fur and consequently they were too narrow for my feet.  I adapted them to fit my girlfriends feet.  I had intended a pair of winter moccs about calf-height that I could tie up and wear during deer hunting, guess I'll have to make a pair that actually fits me next time!!  Still, I'm pleased with the way that they turned out.

those look warm! and tough as well! thanks for sharing.
when i'm working on things my ancestors worked, singing the songs my ancestors sang, dancing the same dances, speaking the same language, only then  I feel connected to the land, THIS land, where my ancestors walked for thousands of years...
