Why didn't the Indians use Mahogany Obsidian?

I think that a lot of them were used as ceremonial points and buried with the dead, at least in the lassen complex

Those are cool.  I have heard that some of the Northern California tribes believed that red jasper had supernatural poison, and was preferred over other, duller colored flints.  I wouldn't be surprised if there were other superstitions about different flints in other tribes around the country.
