nice save! nice to know it can be done!
when i'm working on things my ancestors worked, singing the songs my ancestors sang, dancing the same dances, speaking the same language, only then  I feel connected to the land, THIS land, where my ancestors walked for thousands of years...

To get a better fit on your next splice you should finish the joint to the best of your ability then steam the end for around 15 -20 mins and clamp together. Let them cool and hey presto perfect splices!
Good job on saving it.

Looks great man! Is the splice closer to one fade than the other?

No, Ryan. It is dead center of the bow.

Thanks all for the compliments, and Will for helpin me with the splice layout.

Very cool man! Jig saw and a clamp, or did you use some kind of power tool?

Used an old craftsman bandsaw and it worked like a charm!

What most people dont know is that in the past all of his bows are done with an axe not bandsaw. When I read your post about using a bandsaw I thought man your world is about to change. I remember the picture of that saw and so how is that old thing working for Ya.

You're right John, I cut my first "hundred" bows out with a hatchet and draw knife. I actually got the bandsaw for cuttin up knife handles and odd jobs like tip material. After talking with the guys at the classic I figured how to fix the blade tracking problem I was having. Now that she's running smooth the world is kinda opening up. Oh the possibilities!!

Wish I could do that. Got 4 limbs that could make a nice bow if spliced together. Or I guess I could just quit breaking good staves >:D
