Sturgeon/rawhide backed maple molle

This is the final result of a maple board from Home Depot that I turned into a mollegabet. I used a rawhide dog bone as the backing and, at the last minute I used the sturgeon more as a decorative item (was the only skin I had that was wide enough to cover the limbs  )

It shoots very fast for a mollegabet and initially I had purpleheart on the riser and static limbs, but I didn't like the way it looked with the brown sturgeon, so I chose instead to dye everything black and am much happier with the outcome.

Lesken: It shoots wonderfully and surprisingly fast for a molle. I think I am falling in love with the use of maple in board form.

Big Papa: The original dimensions of the board were 1" x 3" x 6', but when measured it was actually .75" x 2.5" x 6'. So the limbs are 2.5".

Very cool bow!   Never seen a brown sturgeon before though.  Is that it's natural color?

Very nice bow there, couple of questions.
How do you prep your stugeon skins when you get the fish and how do you store them?
I plan on going after some paddlefish soon and I get some big flatheads every year , I'm thinking about backing a couple of bows this fall or next spring and could use them .

How thick are the limbs in the working part?

Is the thickness consistent or did you taper it?

I'm working on one of these right now out of red oak and your Youtube build along was an inspiration. I'd like to get 55-60 out of my red oak so that's why I'm interested in the thickness of your limbs. My grain is biased, looks good except on one end where there are run-offs on the narrow thick non-bending portions. I'm hopeful that these will not be a problem.
