"Cheap Date"
« on: April 26, 2013, 05:28:00 pm »
Her name is fitting for a few reasons. To name a few: It came from a belly split off a stave that already made two nice bows. It has zero glue, no grip, and very simple pin nocks. There is also some checking left in the handle that didnt clean up. I used very minimal heat to flip the tips some. The bow kept its wonky stave shape. And last but not least, I made it split to bow in a day. A very "Cheap Date" indeed.

65" ntn x 1.25" wide
41# @ 27"  6 strand D10 string
No other glamorous details, sorry!

Feel free to comment any way you see fit. I'd love to know anything in the tiller that could be better.

Chris....you are one bad dude, man!! 8)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

That nasty limb is reflex 2" right off the fade, the other limb is what osage dreams are made of. Kind of a funky marriage between them limbs? Thats what stump bows will get ya'!

Well Chris, i'd be happier with it if it took you more than a day to do that!!!  Very nice.  That tiller would have taken me a week with plenty of breaks to let my eyes and brain rest.  Well done!

Its all about precise control for me bub. I know EXACTLY how much wood Im taking off without looking. I dont have to rasp, look, rasp, look, rasp, look and so on. I know exactly how much is coming off and when I need to stop............lately the ol' Shinto has been draggin' on, she's dull and needs replaced. I bet I did 30-40 bows with it though, not bad for $25.
