Eastern woodland Hybrid bow
« on: April 20, 2013, 10:35:43 pm »
I guess I would call this an eastern woodland Hybrid bow, it bends through the handle but just slightly at full draw. Bow is from a white oak stave that I harvested last year. Dimensions are 64" ntn and 48# @ 28". Bow is 1 1/4" at handle and limbs taper down from 1 5/8" to 3/4" at nock. I have about 400 arrows shot through this bow so far and am real happy with this bows mannerisms. Unstrung the bow shows about 2 1/2" of set. Finished off with light wood stain, acrylic paint, and 8 coats of tru oil. Thanks for looking.

I love that bow! Great paint. What is the handle made from?
How big was the tree it came from?

The handle is built up with leather and shaped for comfort. I used a caul and added reflex to stave before tillering started.

The Nock is very interesting; cool. Is the top picture with the Bow strung or un-strung. Very nice job.

I love those bendy handle circular bends!! Nice job! ;)
