Have a few questions. Cut this back in August. ( cut in cold weather ) it is bout 7 feet long glue on both ends. Should I have split it then? Can I take of the bark and sapwood to make that my back or do I have to chase a ring?

Looks like the bark is readty to fall off. I would split it now, then peel both staves down clean and seal the backs. If you rough one down now you can easily work it in a few weeks.

You should be able to get a couple of bows from that easily. I just went through Paragould last night going to the State basketball tournament in Marmaduke, nothing like a good 4 hour drive.

Ought to be a couple in that for sure. I would split, debark and be sure and get the sap wood off or it will probably check, then seal it up and keep it in a dry place for a while. I know it can be done but I don't like to use Osage less than a year old.
